to help infants develop a rhythmical and coordinated pattern, which is also called the Suck-Swallow-Breathe (SSB) synchrony, which is the first developmental pattern that we learn during infancy. The SSB synchrony allows infants to eat and breathe without choking, as well as to interact and explore their environment.
Benefits - The Suck-Swallow-Breathe (SSB) synchrony is a primary component of our oral-motor mechanism. It is critical to many areas of our development, including speech and language development, postural control, motor development, self-regulation, attention, psychosocial development, feeding/eating behaviors, eye-hand coordination and more.

abilities. My clinical approach is grounded in evidence-based practices, collaboration with families, multidisciplinary teams, and a deep respect for each child’s unique strengths and developmental needs. I am committed to providing high-quality, ethical care that supports meaningful communication outcomes for children across a range of abilities.
Throughout my 15 years of work in pediatrics, through early intervention (EI), schools, and private practice, I repeatedly encountered infants and young children with low oral motor tone (limited ability to utilize facial and oral muscles) who struggled to engage their oral musculature effectively. Many of these children were unable to sustain a functional latch on a pacifier or bottle, limiting opportunities for oral sensory input, muscle activation, self-soothing, and early feeding success.
Drawing on evidence-based practice, I began intentionally applying therapeutic principles to everyday feeding tools. I focused on ways to encourage active engagement of the lips, tongue, and jaw rather than passive placement, with the goal of supporting strength, coordination, and functional movement patterns. Through careful observation, clinical trial, and refinement, this approach evolved into what became the ZUZU FEED.
ZUZU FEED was developed to bridge the gap between therapy and functional feeding by providing targeted oral sensory and motor input while remaining practical for daily use. Designed to support children with low oral motor tone, it encourages active oral participation, helping infants and young children successfully accept a pacifier and transition to bottle feeding.
ZUZU FEED reflects my commitment to translating research and clinical expertise into innovative, accessible tools that improve feeding outcomes for children and families.
